Stories of Nikkei Canadians Resilience in Struggle
You could call me a Japanophile. I am also a frequent visitor to Steveston, one of the historical centres of the Japanese-Canadian community in BC. I was happy for another opportunity to connect with the Japanese-Canadian community in desining this book. I even got to flex my Japanese language skills a bit: the kanji that appears on the cover—子供のために or “for the sake of the children,” a refrain throughout the book—was my own initiative.
